Our Story

Welcome to Words Matter! I would like to share with you the story and meaning behind the creation of this name and why it’s been chosen to represent my career and passion as an SLP. In July 2018 my sweet dad, Quinn Davis, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and we were told his time was limited. We were so prayerful that things would turn out differently but the Lord chose to take him home 5 months later December 12, 2018. Dad was always known for his creativity, love for Jesus, and love for helping others. So in the midst of his cancer journey I started discussing with him some of my dreams to start my own SLP brand. He quickly responded with encouragement and excitement and got on board with brainstorming name ideas for this very dream. It was a special weekend where my mom, dad, sister and I were out at a Christmas market and then stopped at Costco on our way home. Dad was too tired to come into the store so he waited for us in the car. As we came back out, dad said “Kierst, I got it… Words Matter”. I immediately knew what he meant and we all loved and had tears in our eyes. It captured my heart for my brand perfectly: that is to symbolize the importance of communication whether it be speech sounds, language, or a variety of communication methods that are necessary for an individual to express their ideas, thoughts, and needs effectively. All that captured in two simple words, yet important ones: “Words Matter”. What I didn’t realize in that moment was that this name would hold so much more meaning than just that. My dad left a legacy where his words impacted so many people on so many occasions. He would tell me to stop talking about him right now and give God the glory and I sure do but hearing over and over again that it was something dad said to someone that stuck with them forever and that he believed in them. This has impacted my life in a dynamic way. Words do matter and with that I dedicate Words Matter’s journey to my incredibly loved and missed dad.
